The good caveat buried in an endnote! That’s what many many Christian authors have done when they’ve written about marriage. I’m so tired of abuse being relegated to a footnote.

When authors relegate intimate partner abuse to a footnote or a parenthesis near the end of their book, they are showing how little they care for victims of abuse and how little they understand the dynamics of domestic abuse. They are wittingly or unwittingly enabling the abusers.

Gary Thomas and Debra Fileta need to publicly repent!

Thanks Andrea! I really appreciate this article and I’m thrilled you’ve begun to post your articles on Substack. If I were to start blogging now I would use the Substack platform, but my blog on WordPress began in 2012 and it would be impossible for me to transfer all the content (inc the comments) over to Substack. So I’m stuck at WordPress.
